How does MoversSurvey work?

MoversSurvey is a mobile GIS app (iOS, Android, Web) for structured field surveys. Field teams record geo-objects, photos, and questionnaires directly in the field — even without a mobile connection. All data is automatically stored in the central project area and is immediately available as GeoJSON, PDF, or Excel.

Do users need GIS knowledge to use MoversSurvey?

No. MoversSurvey is designed so that field teams without a GIS background can immediately become
productive. Setting points, taking photos, filling out surveys —
all of this works in just a few clicks.

GIS know-how is helpful for project configuration and GeoJSON export, but not absolutely necessary.

Will MoversSurvey replace our existing GIS system?

No. MoversSurvey complements existing GIS systems such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
The app handles structured field data collection; the GeoJSON or Shapefile export
flows directly into the existing GIS workflow — without duplicate entry or
manual transfer.

How are data protection and data sovereignty implemented?

MoversSurvey is developed and operated in Austria. The platform is fully
GDPR-compliant.

Project data remains within the controlled infrastructure — no
forwarding to third parties.

Can custom questionnaires be configured?

Yes. Questionnaire templates are configured on a project-specific basis and can include
mandatory fields, display logic, and media uploads. Setup is performed in
collaboration with the MovingLayers team. A self-service option is under development.
